Rechargeable table lamps, could be a thing soon?

I was reading this article from dezeen about a new lamp called Two Lamp. It's designed fro the home but is rechargeable.

I wonder if this is an option for the future of lighting? It's irritating that we limit lamps to having long wires trailing and relying on mains switches being in good places, or huge numbers of multi-sockets throughout our homes. Maybe a long-battery life lamp is the future?
